The Burj Dubai is composed of a foundation and three wings, each of which is at a different altitude and will reduce the size of the building's construction. The arrangement of the wings creates a spiral staircase to the left that encircle the structure and assists to counteract the high winds and many sandstorms that occur in Dubai. The foundations of the building are made of crushed rock that has been cemented together.
The wing on the third floor is just for show. It was added when the owner wanted to have more space than the law allowed for. The only thing it contains now are luxury apartments that go for about $500,000 or more. The rest of the space is used for parking.
The wing on the first floor is where most of the action takes place. Here you'll find the revolving door and the elevators that take guests to the various floors.
The main entrance of the building is located on the ground floor near the center of the structure. From here you can see the entire building, including the top floor where the restaurant is found. Guests can choose to enter the tower either through the main entrance or one of the four side entrances which contain shops or restaurants on each floor.
Each room in the hotel includes two windows that face outside, allowing natural light into the apartment during the day and electricity at night to help with cooling and heating. There are also two smaller windows on the side walls for extra sunlight.
The Burj Al Arab was erected on a man-made island 280 meters off the coast of Dubai. Guests may get there through a 340-meter-long bridge road. It took five years to construct. The renowned landmark's construction began in 1994. It was completed in 1999.
The main structure of the hotel is an elegant arc of steel and glass, with its center hollow to reduce weight and increase stability. The top floor contains only a reception area and a restaurant. The rest of the rooms are on lower floors, which are filled with luxury suites and bathrooms with marble showers and tubs. There's also a spa, a gym, a pool, a theater, and a music room.
Guests can choose from one of three categories at the Burj Al Arab: superluxury, luxury, or standard. Superluxury guests enjoy access to a private beach, a lounge, a nightclub, and other amenities not available to ordinary guests. Luxury guests receive some benefits of a superluxury experience but don't pay extra for them. Standard guests are given just enough perks to make staying worthwhile but not so many that they feel like they're really being treated like royalty.
Of course, you don't have to be a royal family member to stay at the Burj Al Arab. Regular tourists can book rooms too! However, only one guest per booking identity number is allowed to stay there.
The construction is composed of a steel frame wrapped around a concrete tower, with white Teflon covered fiberglass forming the "sail." The Burj Al Arab is located on an artificial island 280 meters (918.6 feet) away from Jumeirah Beach. This makes it immune to tidal changes and ocean currents.
The main structure of the house is made of reinforced concrete, which provides maximum strength with minimum weight. It also acts as the foundation for the building. The walls of the house are up to 7 meters (23 feet) thick and hold up to five stories high. The roof is made of aluminum tiles that reflect the sun's heat away from the building and not into it like traditional roofs do.
It is built on the site of the old Burj Dubai, which used to be the tallest building in the world. That title now belongs to this magnificent structure!
The building is open for business with 84 floors above ground and 23 below. It can hold 2,500 people at dinner parties in its banquet halls.
