In a press release, the director of the museum said that they made the decision after careful consideration of the best interests of both visitors and staff. "We believe that this action is necessary to allow our team the opportunity to care for their physical health," said Mohamed El-Hachem. "I would like to thank everyone who has supported us since we opened our doors, and I'm looking forward to seeing you again when we reopen in March."
The museum has been met with criticism from cultural activists who argue that keeping the exhibition open during Ramadan is inappropriate because it violates Muslim beliefs by exposing people to food while they are fasting.
However, the director of the museum says that they took into account the Islamic holy month when planning the exhibition. He also noted that there are several other exhibitions which can be visited by those who want to see Western art in Abu Dhabi during Ramadan.
Those who have tickets for the closing exhibition have been offered free admission to another major show at the museum called 'Drawing Attention'.
Amazing work of art The Louvre Abu Dhabi is no exception, with works by Leonardo da Vinci, Henri Matisse, and Edouard Manet, as well as modern masters like Jackson Pollock, Piet Mondrian, and Andy Warhol on display. There are also special exhibitions throughout the year from all over the world.
The museum has three floors, with galleries on each floor dedicated to specific periods in art history. The first floor focuses on pre-Islamic Arab culture and artwork, while the second floor features Islamic art from the 7th century through the 20th century.
