In 1959, architect Frank Lloyd Wright was hired to redesign the house into a private dwelling. The new house has many unique features including a helipad-sized roof that can be retracted when not needed for weather protection- double-height entrance doors made of walnut wood with glass panels- only one other house in America has these same doorways.
Fallingwater has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1970. In 1975, it was declared a National Historic Landmark. In 2004, it was chosen as one of "The Most Beautiful Homes in America" by House & Home magazine.

If you're coming from Pittsburgh, stay on I-79 South to Exit 28 (Frank Lloyd Wright Road). Turn left onto Frank Lloyd Wright Road and follow it for about 15 minutes until you reach the house.
Visiting hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but check ahead because they may be extended during special events at the house.
