Is the White House built over a pyramid?

What type of building are the pyramids?

In architecture, a monumental structure constructed of or faced with stone or brick and having a rectangular base and four sloping triangular (or sometimes trapezoidal) sides meeting at an apex (or truncated to form a platform). The word "pyramid" is derived from Greek πύραμά τι, meaning "a point against which everything else is levelled".

The first pyramid was built by King Khafre around 2432 BC. It was named after him ("the Great") and it was located in Egypt's Giza Plateau, now within the boundaries of Cairo.

These days we usually think of the Egyptian pyramids as being made of stone, but they were actually built out of mudbricks covered with limestone plaster. They were very efficient energy-consumers: over 400 years ago someone counted 80,000 oxen needed to transport all the required material for just one pyramid.

Actually, there are several different types of pyramids found all over the world. But only two of them are true monuments and they're the Egyptian ones! The others might be churches, temples, or even castles!

The ancient Egyptians called their pyramids "houses of the sky", because they thought that the pharaoh would live forever and would ascend to heaven after his death.

Is the Great Pyramid eight-sided?

Contrary to popular belief, the Great Pyramid is an eight-sided building, not a four-sided construction. The four sides of the pyramid are equally separated from base to top by extremely minor concave indentations. These depressions, which are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye, are called "bastions" and are found on all four sides of the monument.

In fact, the Great Pyramid is almost perfectly symmetrical, with just two exceptions: it has one slightly taller than the other (about 1/8 of the way up) and one shorter (about 3/16 of the way up). These deviations from symmetry may be due to original site conditions or perhaps even later modifications to the structure. Regardless of their cause, they do not affect its classification as an eight-sided pyramid.

The Great Pyramid was built as a tomb for King Khufu (who took the throne in 2566 B.C.) by his son Prince Imhotep. It was probably designed by Imhotep himself but might have been built under his direction. The king ordered the construction of the pyramid to honor his father and himself. It would have been inappropriate to build a conventional pyramidal tomb for oneself, so the king had the structure built instead.

What kind of wallpaper is in the White House?

Instead, Middle Eastern-style wallpaper, draperies, and furnishings have been installed. The difference is visible as he goes down the corridors to meet with the press and whenever he is seen speaking from the White House.

Surprisingly, the White House of President Barack Obama has instructed Georgetown University to conceal any religious symbols at the venue of the president's economic speech on Wednesday at the Roman Catholic college. The prominent Jesuit university agreed as well.

For a long time, I've noticed that the White House décor has altered since BHO got there. The classic red, white, and blue of the Oval Office have been replaced with middle-eastern wallpaper, draperies, and furnishings. The corridor he steps out of to speak with the press now features middle eastern seats, draperies, and so on.

Other historical images on the White House Museum website, which depict the Oval Office as it was during the tenures of US presidents beginning with Truman, reveal that a red, white, and blue color scheme has been considerably more of an exception than a custom in the previous several decades.
