The Manor in California has a total area of 56,500 square feet. The massive estate contains 123 rooms, 14 bedrooms, and 27 bathrooms; it is 1,500 square feet larger than the White House. It was built in 1885 for $750,000.
The mansion is not open to the public but you can go through its website for more information about this magnificent home.
Also worth mentioning is the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, which has been awarded "Best Hotel in North America" by Condé Nast Traveler six times. It has 675 guestrooms and 45,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel opened in 1993 and is only minutes away from some of Southern California's best beaches including Pacific Coast Highway, Balboa Peninsula, and La Jolla.
They offer a wide variety of services, including a full-service spa, two restaurants, a bar, a fitness center with personal training, indoor/outdoor pools, and a golf course. On top of that, they provide free wireless internet access in all areas except one-that is, the restricted area where guests can't leave without an attendant (the front desk will let you know if this applies to you).
There are 340 rooms. This palace includes 340 rooms on four stories, 2.5 kilometers of corridors, and 190 acres of garden space. The building was originally designed by H.H. Richardson and built in 1825-1842. It has been updated several times since then.
The main floor consists of a series of large public rooms called the Great Hall, the State Dining Room, and the Music Room. Each of these rooms is 50 feet long and 25 feet wide, with a total area of 5,000 square feet. They were all restored after suffering damage during World War II.
On the second floor are the private apartments of the president, their staff, and their families. There are also two grand ballrooms here that can be used for large events. Some of the more famous presidents include: James Buchanan, Woodrow Wilson, William Howard Taft, and Barack Obama.
On the third floor is a museum devoted to American history. Here you will find exhibits on slavery, the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, and other topics related to U.S. history.
On the fourth floor is the family room.
According to Charlie Cheever of quora.com, "technically, realtors define mansions as residences with at least 8,000 square feet of floor space." Merriam-definition Webster's is less specific, noting that a mansion is "a large and spectacular residence: the enormous house of a wealthy person." According to research from the Harvard University Joint Center for Housing Studies, the median size of houses sold in the United States was 925 square feet in 2016.
However, in many parts of the country, including most states in the West, larger homes are the norm, not the exception. In fact, according to the Harvard study, only 12 percent of U.S. households were in a house larger than 2,000 square feet as of 2016. By comparison, 28 percent of Canadian households and 46 percent of British households were in a house of that size or larger.
In addition, much of the housing stock in the United States was built before 1990. That's when many traditional house styles became available in larger sizes, so they're commonly found in suburban and rural neighborhoods across the country.
Finally, some large houses are actually superhouses -- designed and built solely with entertainment in mind. These can be seen as luxury homes, but they lack many other amenities usually found in smaller houses near school districts or within walking distance of shops.
