The Chrysler Structure The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco skyscraper in the Turtle Bay area on Manhattan's East Side, in Midtown Manhattan, at the junction of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue. It was designed by William van Alen with architectural drawings by Guy Wilson Van Neste and Paul R. Williams.
The building was originally known as the New York World's Fair Center and was constructed for $7 million (1928 dollars) to replace the old American Radiator Building site where the fair had been held. Its height of 50 stories makes it the highest residential building in New York City and its gold-leafed exterior is among the most expensive structures in the world. The original design called for a tower but financial difficulties caused its completion to be delayed until March 1931 when it was opened by John D. Rockefeller III. The building is owned by Brookfield Office Properties LLC and was valued at $750 million in 2016.
It has been called America's tallest free-standing structure since 1982 when the Sears Tower in Chicago was completed. But only 9 floors above ground level, the Chrysler Building does have a spire which contains an observation deck named for its originator, Walter Chrysler.
In addition to its unique look, the building is famous for being the setting of several movies including "Some Like It Hot" and "The Game Plan".

There are also paid attractions at the top of the building but not all methods of transportation work there so check before you go.
