In 1951, the Empire State Building was placed up for sale. The price was set at $7 million but no one was willing to pay that much for it at the time.

The two buildings are quite similar, but the Empire State Building is much taller and has more floors.
Chrysler Building architect William Van Alen created the now-famous art deco design for this building in 1931. The Empire State Building was the first skyscraper to be built with interior streets for parking spaces. These "garage" floors were also used for office space, retail shops, etc..
