The edifice was created by Thomas Lyon in 1777 and has been restored several times since then. The structure is 150 meters long and extends to a body of water known as Lal Dighi; it is also significant in the Indian Independence Movement. The British called it "the Wonder of the East".
Lal Bagh was built as a royal garden but was converted into a public park in 1876. It remains a popular destination for exercise, recreation, and exhibitionism today. The name "Lal Bagh" means "beautiful garden" in Hindi.
Lal Bagh was designed by John Lockwood Kipling, who also designed New Delhi. He was an English civil servant who was sent by his government to work on the design of new capital city of India, which was to be named after the king who ruled at that time, King George III. The Lal Bagh monument was constructed between 1878 and 1887. It was designed by Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens, one of the most important Victorian-era architects from Britain.
Lal Bagh is one of the largest urban parks in India. At its opening, it contained over 3 million plants from more than 7,000 species within its walls. It is still maintained by the local authorities today.
In 2007, UNESCO added Lal Bagh to its World Heritage List.
The British architect designed one of India's most prominent structures. The President's home is housed in this structure. The structure is made of colourful marbles. Herbert Baker designed the Parliament House, the seat of the world's largest democracy. The house is made up of 247 pillars. Each pillar is different and represents a state in India. The states' names are engraved on them.
Herbert Baker also designed the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata (Calcutta). This beautiful memorial was built in memory of Queen Victoria. It consists of 22 statues of Victorian era figures from various fields including art, science, literature and politics.
In addition, Baker designed several other buildings in India. Some of these include the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, now a prestigious university. He also designed the Imperial Hotel in Mumbai (then called Bombay).
India has some of the finest examples of British architecture. These buildings display the technology and style that were important to the architects who worked here. In fact, many Indians believe that Britain's colonial rule over their country had a positive impact on India's development.
In 1995, he developed the first township in India using green construction techniques, which included 600 residences, a community center, and a temple, in Sirumugai, Coimbatore; and in 2006, he erected the biggest earth building in the world, measuring over 600,000 square feet in Bangladesh. This eco-friendly structure was built without any cement or steel and covers an area of 20 acres.
Shiva Temple is also said to be the largest religious monument in the world. Built in 11th century by Tamil King Shivarama I, it has eight arms each holding a shrine for one of the Hindu godess. It can accommodate up to 5 lakh (500,000) pilgrims per year.
Other large earthen structures include Kailasa Mansions in Ellora Caves in Maharashtra state. These were built around 7th century AD by Indian Buddhist monks. There are three apartments on the first floor and five on the second floor with a total capacity of 24 monks. The ground floor contains a library and a dining hall where they ate their meals while listening to discussions led by the abbot.

This Mumbai native rose to prominence while working on the Sharanam Rural Development Centre on the outskirts of Pondicherry alongside architect Jateen Lad. The entire construction is built of unfired soil, according to The Better India (TBI). In essence, the basic building material is the earth on which the structure is built. This allows for easy reconstruction in case of damage or destruction.
Brijesh Kumar Jha invented a machine called "Earth Movers" that can move a ton of rock in half an hour. His company, Earth Moving Machines, now has over 70 employees and operates out of Mumbai.
Jha told TBI that he invented the machine to help farmers in rural areas get work done easily. He also said that people used to call him when there was going to be a landslide or earthquake and they needed someone to move the debris away. He would come with his machine and charge them money so they could recover their lost property.
Jha never attended school but he did later study engineering after joining Mahindra & Mahindra as an employee. However, he left the company to pursue his own venture. Today, he owns several acres of land where he builds houses for poor villagers.
